Van Benefits- Add

Use

Van benefit is a tax on an employee for the benefit of having a van available for private use. It treats the employee as though their earnings for tax were higher by a notional sum (the "cash equivalent" of the benefit). If you are assigning a van to be used as a shared van to the employee you selected, then enter its details here. The final cash equivalent that is derived will be shared equally among the number of beneficiaries who enjoy the benefit of the selected van.

Fields Available

The top row displays the details such as name, department, E-Mail address etc. of the selected employee.

Van Details

• Employee Van Usage: This field displays whether the van is shared or exclusively used, by selecting the appropriate radio button.
• Van Regn. No.: This field displays the registration number of the van.
• First Regn. Date: This field displays the date when the van was first registered.
• Model: This field displays the model of the van.
• Make: This field displays the make of the van.
• Standard Charge: This field displays the standard charge for the van (s) provided. The charge is £3000 from the tax year 2007/08. The charge is also reduced for periods when a van is unavailable. If two or more directors/employees share the van (s), add the standard charge (s) and apportion the total equally between them.
• Seating Capacity: This field displays the seating capacity of the van.
• Fuel / Power type: This field displays the fuel power type of the van.

Shared Use Van Details

• Number of beneficiaries already using: This field displays the number of employees who already have the benefit of using this van.
• Van first made available date: Enter here the date on which the van benefit was made available to the employee. You can use the calendar button to enter the date.
• Van last used date: Enter here the date on which the van was last used by the employee.

• Van Usage: This field displays the purpose for which the van is used.
• Percentage reduction for sharing: Enter here the reduction percentage for sharing the van. The standard charge will be reduced by the percentage you have entered here.

Particulars

• Days the shared van was unavailable for 30 or more Days consecutively during the benefit availability period: Enter here the number of days on which the shared van was not available for 30 or more consecutive days during the given tax year.
• Days the van was put to exclusive use during the benefit availability period: Enter here the number of days the van was exclusively used during the benefit availability period.
• Total Number of days the van was not shared: This field displays the total number of days for which the van was not shared.

Particulars

• (G 1) Proportionate Standard charge for actual no. of days benefit was available: This field displays the proportionate standard charge for actual number of days the benefit was made available.
• (G 2)Percentage reduction for sharing: This field displays the percentage reduction for the sharing the Van.
• (G 3) Benefit Charge Per Employee: This field displays the benefit charged on each employee for using a shared van.
• (G 4) Amount of contribution made by the employee for private use of this van: Enter here the amount contributed by the employee towards using the van for private purpose.
• (G) Total Cash Equivalent for this van for the employee: The cash equivalent amount will be displayed here.

Van Fuel Details

• Company Provides Fuel: From the drop down list, select whether the company provides fuel or not.
• Fuel Supply Start Date: Enter here the fuel supply start date.
• Does Employee repay fuel cost for private use?: From the drop down list, select whether the employee repays the fuel cost for the private use.
• Fuel Standard Charge: The fuel standard charge will be displayed here.
• Fuel Supply Withdrawn Date: If the fuel supply is withdrawn from the employee, enter here the date on which the fuel supply was withdrawn.
• Fuel Cash Equivalent (After reducing van shared %, if any): The fuel cash equivalent amount will be displayed here after reducing the shared percentage if any.

Associated Tasks

• Cancel: If you wish to exit this screen without saving the details, click on this button. You will be taken back to the Van Available List screen.
• Save: To save the details, click on this button. The Van Benefits - List screen will appear displaying the newly added details.
