Benefit - J. Qualifying relocation expense payments and benefits - Add
Use
Employers / Contractors sometimes provide employees with assistance when they have to move home to take up a new job or when there is a change in the location of their existing job. Such assistance might include:
- Paying the fees connected with their house sale and purchase
- Meeting the cost of travel to the new location for house hunting trips
- Paying for the cost of moving household furniture and effects.
There is an exemption that removes the tax and NICs liability on certain removal expenses and benefits up to a limit of £8000. This screen is used to enter the details of qualifying relocation expense payments and benefits provided to the particular employee you selected.

Fields Available
The top row displays the details such as name, department, E-Mail address etc. of the selected employee. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
Enter the following details in the Relocation Details area.
- Benefit From Date: Enter here the date from which the benefit was made available to the employee. You can use the calendar button to enter the date.
- Benefit To Date: Enter here the date up to which the benefit was made available to the employee. You can use the calendar button to enter the date.
- Memo: Enter here any additional information relating to the relocation expense.
Enter the following details further.
- (J 1) Employer's cost any qualifying benefits and expenses: Enter here the total cost incurred by the employer / contractor on the benefit.
- (J 2) Amount made good: Enter here the amount that the employee has paid towards the benefit.
- (J 3) Qualifying benefits amount :This field displays the amount of qualifying benefit.
- (J 4) Cost of qualifying living accommodation provided: Enter here the cost of living accommodation provided.
- (J 5) Total of expenses and benefits: This field displays the total amount of the expenses and the benefits.
Qualifying Relocation Tax Charge
- (J 6) Tax Exempt Amount Per re-location: This field displays the amount that is exempted from tax per re-location.
- (J) Total Cash Equivalent: The cash equivalent amount will be displayed here.
Associated Tasks
- Cancel: If you wish to exit this screen without saving the details, click on this button. You will be taken back to the Qualifying relocation expenses payments and benefits List screen.
- Save: To save the details, click on this button. The Qualifying relocation expenses payments and benefits - List screen will appear displaying the newly added details.
